Our Vision is to Saturate Victoria with God's people, saved by God's Power, for God's purposes so that everyday, every person could have an encounter with Jesus and his Church.
Sunday Gatherings are an essential part of the rhythms of our church family. It is a time when we gather together around Jesus, and are reminded of his remarkable work on the cross through song, prayer, studying the Bible (Word?), and Communion. If you are visiting for the first time, you can expect to meet a warm and welcoming community. We are a diverse church, made up of all sorts of people. People who are new to church, coming back to church, and some who have been to church for a long time. What we all have in common is that we are all seeking to experience and know God. No matter where you are in your journey, we want to welcome you to join with us.
Weekly Gatherings take place on Sunday mornings at 10am at the Westshore Cineplex Odeon (2945 Jacklin Rd.)
CGs are the primary structure for the scattered church. These are smaller communities where we gather together, worship and submit to Jesus in all of life (7 days a week). We call this discipleship. Discipleship is best worked out in three ways. Life on Life: regularly inviting others into our lives to see the good, the bad, and the ugly and remind us how the Good News of Jesus has transformed us. Life in Community: learning and growing together in diverse community as we continue to see more of whom Jesus is through diverse gift sets. Life on Mission: Learning to share and show the beautiful picture of God’s in-breaking Kingdom in the power of the Spirit through blessing, healing, and restoring the broken places in our city, neighbourhood, and relationships. As these CGs grow, they multiply into more communities living on mission, saturating every part of Victoria.
We believe that the church is called to go and make disciples who make disciples. As we live out this commission, we scatter weekly into smaller communities called Community Groups learning to live out our new identities. Living as newly adopted children into God’s Family, Serving each other as Jesus served us, and going and sharing the Gospel in word and deed in the power of the Holy Spirit.
WEST VILLAGE KIDS
West Village Kids is a fun, exciting and safe place for children (ages 3-12). You can sign your kids in with trained workers who will be leading them in age appropriate activities and lessons, helping our children grow in their knowledge of who Jesus is, what he has done, who they are, and how they get to live. Nursery workers are available to help care for and love our smallest west villagers (ages 0-3).
CGs are the primary structure for the scattered church. These are smaller communities where we gather together, worship and submit to Jesus in all of life (7 days a week). We call this discipleship. The Bible tells us that in Jesus we are made to be a New Creation. The old person has died with Jesus at the Cross and a new person has been made through Jesus’ resurrection and defeat of death. We recognize this transformation through the symbolic act of baptism. As we go under the water we are immersed into our new Identity in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This new identity is transformative in the way we live. We are now adopted into a new family, one with a perfect Father (FAMILY) (Eph. 1:5). We are called to be servants of King Jesus (SERVANTS) (Matt. 28:18). And we are sent to be witnesses to God’s decisive act in history and in our lives in the Power of the Spirit (MISSIONARIES) (Jn. 20:21). Discipleship happens when we learn to live out this new identity in "life on life," "life in community," and "life on mission."
Live together as family....
"You have received the spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry 'Abba! Father!"
Love others as servants....
Whoever would be great among you must be a servant...for even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life.."
And go as missionaries...
"....In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself...and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation..."
-2 Corinthians 25:18-20
